The Beautiful Moonstone. by Leenechan
The Beautiful Moonstone., a photo by Leenechan on Flickr.

Our herbaceous peony "Moonstone" finally bloomed this morning. It's the last of our peonies to bloom this year. We only planted this peony last fall, but thanks to the huge specimen Cricket Hill gave us we were graced with three fat flower buds the first year!

I had wanted to own "Moonstone" for a long time...I'm very glad I didn't have to wait to see it bloom. It's a lot more low-key than our other peonies, but I think it's gorgeous.

Unfortunately, our lawn this year is not gorgeous. XD

Thank you! XD I didn't know there was a peony called "Moonstone" until last fall, but apparently it's one of the finest out there because of the form of its flowers. It smells nice, too--not cinnamony like most peonies, but a kind of honey-melon scent.

That's cool that moonstone is your birthstone!
