Rain and thunder all night long.

All right, that might be a bit of an exaggeration. We had an extremely lousy weather day yesterday in which CT received at least two tornado bleeps. Thankfully, my county didn't even get a severe thunderstorm warning. :D At about five a.m this morning I was awakened by lightning and grumbly thunder. It wasn't a bad storm, but I ended up having to tie my Shinesport Kerchief Scarf over my eyes to block out the annoying flashes of lightning that were keeping me from going back to sleep. I've hated thunderstorms since I was a little kid, but I have to admit it was kind of cute to hear the thunder and rain in the background getting softer and softer until it finally faded away completely.

I notice that whenever I write I constantly set up my sentences like this: blah blah blah, BUT....blah blah blah. I do it when I write fiction too! I'm always going back and correcting it. I have to wonder why I'm always setting up these contradictory statements? Why does my mind always work like this? I'm actively forcing myself not to write like that now just to prove that there's nothing wrong with my head that's forcing me to keep writing "but" sentences. My brain is flipping out here. It's not bad grammar, BUT why do I always instinctively write this way??

Look at my huge frigging cat.

Last night I brought Lucas down in the basement with me for a while. Our basement is set up with two rooms: the steps lead into a semi-finished part with an adjacent laundry/boiler room, and the fully finished den is behind another door. I like to let him play in the den but I don't want him running around near the furnace...so when he goes down, he gets a police escort. We close the door behind us and let him bounce around to his heart's content. When he wants to go up he meows at the door, and I carry his 15lb ass upstairs.

He started to pull his usual cat-effery, chasing a fly around and trying to eat it (which is fine and all but flies can cause tapeworms. We let him eat all the clothing moths he wants). So I decided that rather than let myself get more and more annoyed trying to kill the fly I should boot BooBoo from the basement for a couple of minutes. I heard him whining at the closed door the whole time. I came up five minutes later and the little bastard tried to bolt past me and run downstairs. I ended up having to grab him by his haunches as he whooshed by me, kick the door closed and dangle him upside down until I could juggle him into a more comfortable position and set him down.

I think Lucas might be a masochist. He actually enjoyed that! As soon as I put him down he spread out into relax-a-cat position and started doing squinty eyes. He is such a little creep! I think any other cat would have scratched the hell out me for hanging him upside down like a trapeze artist. I am very, very blessed to have a cat that likes to be man-handled.

But he still won't sit on anyone's lap.

Ha ha ha...I started this entry fully intending to write an entry about playing the Japanese version of FFVII, and how I'm finding myself liking the game a lot more than I did 12 years ago. Oh well, maybe later!

I am quite guilty of groping that cat when he doesn't want it. =_+ We're lucky he's so forgiving.

The weather has been pretty awful lately, but those storms are what pushed Hurricane Bill away from the East Coast. For that I'm forever grateful. ^__^

Oh, cats love to eat bugs! They're like pure protein for them. The only bugs Lucas doesn't like to eat are ants, because they're hard to kill and squirm around in his mouth. He does a really good job of locating even the tiniest flying insect buzzing around the ceiling. As of lately, though, he's finding them and then holding back and letting me catch/squash them. I guess that's the momma cat's job. XD

There are non-toxic plants you can keep in the house with cats, but I'd rather not take my chances. Lucas is not a destructive kitty by any means but he LOVES to chew on paper and put things in his mouth. If I had a plant inside he'd probably strip it bare and puke it up. :O
