Allergies, They're All Around.

I think it's amusing that I can spend three months of the year shut in a house with a long-haired cat and not be bothered by allergies, but one hour outside doing yardwork and my nose is a leaky faucet. It really is a miracle that I'm not allergic to BooBoo. ^o^;

I sewed a skirt last night and, for once, ended up putting it on one of my custom dolls. And doesn't that fabric look familiar? :D Kristen made the top and I made the skirt. It might not be evident from the photo, but the skirt is flared at the bottom and constructed of four identical panels.

I don't remember how long ago I made Ellie. She was one of my last custom dolls, but that could have been more than two years ago. I'm not sure who rooted her hair, either. I'm pretty sure it was me.

Sometimes I don't know what to think about custom dolls. I used to do so many of them, but in the long run there are only three or four I can genuinely say I did a good job on. I don't know if it's because of lack of ability or my tendency to rush projects rather than taking the time to do the best work I can. Who knows if I'll ever do another custom Volks doll again?

I probably will sooner or later. I've always tried to maintain an objective attitude about my skill level, so I don't think I'm being unnecessarily down on myself...I guess I've just found that there are things I enjoy much more than painting custom dolls right now, like writing and sewing, that don't bump up against this invisible wall in my head. For me, drawing and painting have always had a lot of math to them, and by nature I'm terrible at math! :O
