A New Addition.

Here's a new addition to our front border: a Japanese Iris Kristen planted last fall. I'll admit now that she's the one who does most of the planting in our household. I'm just the lazy bum who takes the pictures. XD

I love irises. Bearded, Siberian, and now Japanese. I saw a white bearded iris at our local nursery and have vowed to plant some for next year. When it's hot outside there's nothing better than a pure white flower. Speaking of which...

When we planted this Rose of Sharon in 1999 it was a scraggly thing only three feet tall. We were in the middle of a drought and overcompensated by watering the tree too much. It dropped most of its leaves and almost died. ;_; Now, however, it's grown taller than the house! Mom hates how huge it's become, but I think it has a beautiful rounded habit and the flowers are so pretty! We probably should cut it back, though--it's blocking our window. Also, a skunk likes to hang out under it. It smells.

You're welcome! I'm not a fan of warm weather, but watching the flowers bloom in succession is like opening a new present every day.

That skunk has quite a powerful spray! I've never seen it before but I know it's there. Speaking of wildlife intruders, I just noticed today that blue jays have been pecking at our basil seedlings. O_O
