Tonight's the Night.

Well, it was the night. I painted my new doll, as promised. ^^

Her name is Sakura and she is composed from scraps. Well, just her hair is. I ordered some dark blue hair for her but it still hasn't come in and I decided to take matters into my own hands and use the leftover bits of navy blue, silver and dark purple hair I had in my stash. I thought it would look ridiculous but it's not too bad. She has an Obitsu #2 head and Obitsu regular female body. It's the first time I've used that body and it's not bad at all. Unlike the Volks bodies it's shiny but it's quite sturdy!

I made her dress but not the tights. I don't have the ability to make tights and I can deal with that! ^___^ I tried to make her eyes bigger because on my last two Obitsu heads the eyes seemed too small compared to how other artists paint them. Hrm.

I have an itchy red spot on my hand and I don't know how it got there. ::scratches::

Aw...thank you! :D I think it was the hair-rooting equivalent of cooking by opening the refrigerator and dumping everything you could find into a pot. :D

I often cook my best creations that way. Trouble is, then I can never quite duplicate the recipe. ^_^

Very nice subtle paint job too.

I don't know how good I am at experimental cooking. I have a lot of fussy eaters in my house!

Thank you for the compliments! This is only the third Obitsu #2 head I've painted. I still don't know if I have the hang of working with the smaller heads but I sure am tired of the standard anime-style Volks head!

Ooooo pretty colors. heh. I am so jealous of your rooting skills and painted on eyes. Reminds me I need to get to the dolly store soon. Do you ever sell your dolls?

Thank you ^_^! This head was small and the vinyl was soft so I didn't have that hard a time. I came very close to running out of hair, though!

I've sold dolls in the past but I always make the dolls specifically to sell. If I had to sell a doll I made for myself it would probably kill me! :D I guess most customizers don't get as attached to their dolls as I do.

I don't sell my dolls too...
I'm a doll customizer and I don't agree with you: in fact I don't sell my dolls, even if someone asked me to sell them. I make them for my own enjoyment only and I'm attached to them, they're my own creatures, after all! ;)

Re: I don't sell my dolls too...
I guess it's been a long time since I really kept an eye on the doll community! ^__^; I just remember that when I started out almost everyone liked to sell their dolls, but then again, that was five years ago.

I almost always make the dolls for myself. Unfortunately I have so many dolls that people who come into my house ask me when I'm going to start putting them on the market. ^o^ So then I make a doll to sell and get attached to it too...sometimes I don't try to sell it after all but sometimes when I do no one wants to buy it any way! ^___^

Re: I don't sell my dolls too...
Oh yes, I understand... When people see how many dolls I've, usually they say:" why don't you sell them? You've too many!". But, damn it, they aren't Barbies or similar ones, they're OOAK and it seems most of people don't see the difference between a commercial Barbie made in thousands copies and a full hand-made ooak doll. They're only "dolls" for them... but I put my time, energy and skills to make my dolls at the best! And besides that, the same people who say to sell my dolls, of course never think to buy one of your ooak at all :( ("oh no, thanks, I don't need a doll", "I've no money for such a thing" and so on...)
