Cherry cherry cherry...

Since the chocolate cherry variation on the Friendship Bread turned out so well, we're trying vanilla cherry now. ^__^ Yes, I am totally sick of eating this stuff and have been giving most of it away. A new and improved recipe is on the horizon! Actually, all we're doing is gradually replacing the 1 cup of vegetable oil with melted butter. Baked goods made with oil as the only fat have no depth of flavor. It bothered me the most when I tried the Apple Cinnamon version (which was still pretty good). The bread was moist but oh so empty...

I've finished two things, still haven't finished another. I ended Gwendolyn's quest in Odin Sphere last night. Her book took me 11 hours to complete, and by the last battle she had 970 hit points. Cooking is fun. :D I can't believe how much slowdown that last battle had! I thought Odette had given me a status ailment! I don't know if I want to jump into the next story yet but who knows...maybe I will.

I also finished reading Moto Hagio's Umi no Aria. I had heard it wasn't one of her best but after getting bogged down by the filth-tastic Zankokuna Kami ga Shihai Suru I found it a pleasant read. I have no idea why the latter series is so popular. It was decent up until Volume Six but by the end I hated all the characters (Ian especially) and wanted to burn the manga in a bonfire. I don't have a problem with boys' love but that manga read like the worst kind of fanfiction. O_O

Still plodding through version three of Chapter One of my story. Maybe it's because of the weather, but I haven't been able to concentrate much lately. To phrase things in a pretentious manner, the writing's getting richer with each revision....but I really have to get this done. Now.

It's kind of complicated at this point, but the story is basically about a princess who desperately tries to get out of her coming-of-age ceremony and ends up traveling to another world to find her missing servant/best friend. :O

I won't be posting it in my blog due to the possibility that some time before my death I might want to try to get it published, but if you're really interested I can e-mail you Chapter One after I finish revising it for the third time. (I should have it done by the end of the week.) It's hard to blog about writing...I've been really wanting to share it with someone but I don't want to post anything and ruin my chances of some day seeing the thing in print. (Maybe it will be good enough in ten years ^O^) I don't think I have your e-mail address any more, unfortunately. I would be happy to share my writing with you privately.

I'll let you know when I'm done! First I have to run it by my number 1 tough critic (me) and my number 2 even tougher critic (my sister) to make sure no stupidity escapes me. ^_^

Honestly, I'm not really worried about someone plagiarizing my work. At this point, I doubt anyone would bother! ^_6 I just heard that publishing companies frown on writers who post their stuff online--it's like the saying, "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?" Also, most webhosting services have a clause stating that anything you post in public using their service becomes their property to distribute as they will. That's kind of scary.

I took a folklore and mythology course in my senior year in college. It was taught by a graduate student but I thought the subject matter was really interesting. I have a lot of cool books thanks to that course.
